High School Applied Coding Challenge 2022

OVERVIEW

Description

This initiative is supported by HER CODE CAMP and Rotman Finance and Research Training Lab (FRT-Lab) to introduce high school students to applied Python coding in financial markets. HER CODE CAMP will be providing their signature Intro to Python course to prep you for this challenge, which will be followed by a workshop to introduce you to financial markets and the RIT Market Simulator software offered by the Rotman FRT-Lab. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your newly learned skills learned through a market simulation challenge using the RIT Market Simulator.

This is a FREE event! Current grade 11 and 12 high students in Toronto and the GTA are eligible to compete.

Important Dates

• Practice Session no.1: Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM EDT
• Practice Session no.2: Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM EDT
• Competition Day: Saturday, February 5th, 2022 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM EDT

Goal

• Have an opportunity to see how the finance industry works,
• Understand how Python can be used in real-life applications,
• Apply finance and market-related knowledge to real-life situations,
• Learn from each other in both competitions,
• Familiarize users with a trading interface used by financial institutions.
